Hi, my name is Bryson and as many already know my dear friend of 45 yrs Len Melvin is going through a major trauma in his and his wife Tricia’s life rite now.
On April 22, 2025 in the midst of his regular morning routine, Len experienced a sudden flash of light and pain that immediately brought him to his knees. Tricia hurried him to hospital where after many hrs he was returned home with a misdiagnosis of a sore back. His condition quickly worsened and by the next morning Tricia called an ambulance as Len was no longer able to move or feel below his waist. Hours passed but eventually they realized the severity of the situation and rushed him to foothills hospital in Calgary, Ab 3hrs away. A nearly immediate MRI determined that he would need emergency surgery within a few hrs. They performed the L4 L5 decompression discectomy successfully that evening, essentially removing a portion of the disk that had badly damaged the nerves controlling his urinary, bowels and lower body functions and feeling. Although the surgery was successful this has left Len with no feeling or control of his bowels and bladder and little sensation or control of his body below the waist. Len will remain in hospital for rehabilitation for quite some time with no clear prognosis of recovery.
As you can imagine this has taken an immeasurable toll on both Len and Tricia. I would like to ask you for your help. With no workers compensation applicable the costs of this tragedy is adding up fast. Tricia has been working, caring for the animals and home and driving back and forth to Calgary to give Len the support he needs rite now. With funds dwindling quickly, payments, fuel to travel back and forth and the costs of home modifications so Len can eventually come home are quickly becoming overwhelming. A contribution of $20.00, $50.00 or $100.00 would make a huge difference in relieving some of the burden on them rite now and allow them to focus on the bigger cause. Lens recovery and mental health.
Thank you so much for your time and attention. I appreciate your help.
Bryson.
