(English) This fundraiser supports a short film about a young woman named Sofía and her struggle with body image, self-worth, and the pressure to meet unrealistic beauty standards.

(Español) Esta recaudación apoya un cortometraje sobre una joven llamada Sofía y su lucha con la imagen corporal, la autoestima y la presión de cumplir con estándares de belleza irreales.

(English) Sofía binge eats and is consumed by guilt and shame. When a man named Adrián begins messaging her on social media, she feels seen and hopeful for the first time in a long while. Encouraged by her friends, they plan a group date. In preparation, Sofía tries to change her body—squeezing herself into shapewear to appear thinner, more acceptable, more worthy.

(Español) Sofía tiene episodios de atracones y vive consumida por la culpa y la vergüenza. Cuando un hombre llamado Adrián comienza a escribirle por redes sociales, por primera vez en mucho tiempo se siente vista y esperanzada. Animada por sus amigas, planean una cita grupal. Para prepararse, Sofía intenta cambiar su cuerpo: se ajusta fajas para verse más delgada, más aceptable, más digna.

(English) When they finally meet, Adrián reacts with surprise and later distances himself, leaving Sofía confused and deeply hurt. Seeking clarity, she reaches out to him, only to receive a response that forces her to confront a painful truth: how deeply her sense of value has been tied to her appearance.

(English) I want to tell this story because it reflects a reality many women live every day. Women are constantly told—by media, social networks, and society—that thinness equals worth. From a very young age, we learn that beauty is not optional, and that our bodies can determine how we are treated, desired, loved, and even respected.

(Español) Quiero contar esta historia porque refleja una realidad que muchas mujeres viven a diario. Constantemente se nos dice —a través de los medios, las redes sociales y la sociedad— que la delgadez equivale a valor. Desde muy temprana edad aprendemos que la belleza no es opcional y que nuestros cuerpos pueden determinar cómo somos tratadas, deseadas, amadas e incluso respetadas.

(English) This film is not about blaming individuals. It is about exposing a system that teaches women to shrink themselves—physically and emotionally—in order to belong. Through this project, I hope to spark reflection and conversation, especially among women, about the power we have to question and redefine these standards. A world where women of all sizes are valued does not begin with perfection; it begins with visibility, honesty, and compassion.

This includes cast and crew compensation, camera, lighting, and sound equipment, locations and production design, wardrobe and makeup, and post-production costs such as editing, sound design, and color correction. A portion of the budget will also be allocated to festival submissions and distribution, allowing the film to reach audiences and continue the conversation beyond the screen.
