In Memory of our Sweet Kai Kai

Four months ago, I was called to open my home and heart to three children so they would not be separated from each other. As a mother of two teenagers, taking in another teenage boy, an 18-month boy and 3 year old girl was going to be an adventure. But with the love and support of my entire family, we would make it work. While fostering has brought on many challenges that I wasn't prepared for, it has also brought a new view on life.

And then on Sunday, our home was rocked when our sweet little boy passed away in his sleep.

We took him to the ER on Friday for a rash and a slight fever. They tested for all the things, and his tests came back positive for Rhino virus, a common cold. As such, we were directed to treat the rash with cream, the fever with ibuprofen, and the cold with children's cold medicine. On Saturday, he was smiling and playing. He and his sister went to bed at their normal time. When my niece checked in on him around 11 pm all was good. But on Sunday morning, our little one did not wake up.

His passing affects many households. He was only on this earth for 22 months and in our home for 4 of those months, but he was loved by so many.

While his mom is handling funeral arrangements, we would like to be able to support her. We would also like to support his siblings, who have already been dealing with a lot since they were removed from their home. I am not sure what that support looks like right now, but it is my mission to get them everything they need to grow through what they are going through.
