Hi, my name is Kristin and along with Melissa, Christine, Susan and Justine we have set up this fundraiser to help and support our beautiful friend, Jana and her family.

Jana's oldest son, Jarod was diagnosed with ALD (Adrenoleukodystrophy) in 2021. ALD is a rare genetic condition that causes the buildup of very long chain fatty acids (VLCFAs) in the brain. When VLCFAs accumulate, they destroy the

protective myelin sheath around nerve cells, responsible for brain function. Without the myelin sheath, the nerves can no longer relay information to and from the brain. ALD progresses rapidly, often leading to a vegetative state or death within a few years. There is no cure for ALD.

During the past few months, Jarod has shown a steady decline in his health and is in and out of the hospital, along with ongoing doctor appointments. He is currently on a feeding tube, blind, has lost the ability to walk and use a majority of his muscles, and talk. Jana had to quit her job to be home to take care of Jarod and assist him with daily, around the clock care. Medical assistance is limited and there is a waiting list for everything.

With this fundraiser we are hoping to raise money to ease the stress of medical bills and regular, daily living expenses during this time for the family. Thank you for your help and support as a community!
