Hi everyone,

I'm crowdfunding for a feature film that I am in the middle of making and hoping to complete by the end of 2026. The Red Plaid Suitcase was a play that was supposed to have its debut at the Signature Theatre in NYC back in 2020, but Covid shut it down. Inspired by that play, the script has evolved to a cinematic experience, a feature film, a current story, surrounded by all that is happening in this country and around the world. A story of resilience. Of facing our fears. Adjusting. Adapting. A leap of faith, but one that can't be done alone, and so this is a film about asking for help outside of yourself to find the courage and the strength to ultimately rise from within yourself.

Wow. That is a metaphor for this fundraiser as well. That's pretty cool.

More to the brass tacks of this GoFundMe, I am needing money to shoot, edit, acquire all the gear I need, pay my collaborators and myself and be prepared for any incidentals that may arise along the way like travel, location needs, insurance, rentals, potential computer and gear issues, etc, etc. Also, this will cover a debut private screening event, marketing, and all the things that go into taking on a massive project like this.

I have completed two full length feature films all by myself without any outside support whatsoever, but I am looking to really elevate my work and arm myself to have the ability to focus on the actual creativity of the process of making the best story possible, without having to figure out herculean ways to do that. In other words, I am looking forward to doing the best creative work of my career, and as much as filmmaking, much like solo theater is all about solving problems, I look forward to having access to funds that will support my process more seamlessly, more comfortably, along with the honor of being able to pay myself and my collaborators.

Thank you for being here with me for my entire adult life in support of all of my work up until now, and for being here today to continue on this journey with me, or if you haven't been here before, I'm honored to welcome you to join a powerful community of patrons of the arts who have empowered me for many years to do the best work I can possibly create.

Nothing that I have created in the past would mean anything without the community that has evolved over all these years. For me, that's what it's all about. I love the process of making art, but in the end, it's all about finishing and getting it out there for people to receive it and feel something. To consider what they have just experienced. Whether it be live in a sacred theater space, or going back and forth in a comment section of a streaming service, it's all about community and building more empathy that hopefully connects all of us through a beautiful story, compelling characters and inspiring events. Meaningful, contributing and transformative art.
