The reason we’re the restaurant you’ve returned to all these years is our staff. You have great experiences here because it’s a point of pride for them to make every dish perfect, to show genuine hospitality, and to showcase every night what the Red Hen is about. These are the people who’ve made us successful. And they need your help.
We’ve been overwhelmed with the support that we’ve received in our switch to takeout operations - it’s allowed us to keep a good portion of our staff working. The 20% service charge collected goes to our employee fund, and has helped us get needed money to many of our team members, including those that aren’t able to work right now.
But many challenges remain for our people. A number of them aren’t working, and everyone still working face severe cutbacks in hours and pay. As they confront the fear and anxiety we all share during this public health emergency, they’re dealing as well with extraordinary economic uncertainty. And it’s not going to ease up very soon.
In short: they need your help.
We’re grateful to have been a part of many peoples’ favorite nights out. If you’ve celebrated a special occasion, caught up with an old friend, found comfort in your favorite pasta, discovered a unique wine, had a perfectly crafted cocktail: our team made it happen, and your support for them in this strange and uncertain time would mean more than you know.
With this fundraiser we’re hoping to raise $15,000 to support our staff, particularly those we’ve had to lay off, for the month of April.
