Hi, my name is Samantha Valentine, and I call Tamworth home.

I would like to tell you about a boy very close to my heart named Kobi Murray.

On Tuesday the 11th of June Kobi turned 17, the world was "his oyster" as they say and all dreams were within reach.

9 days later I am sitting here writing this.

Kobi is the kind of sunshine you didn't know your day was missing. He is kind and carries courage beyond his years. The kind of person who is always ready to help, no matter who or what was needing it.

Kobi resides with his grandparents in Tamworth while his dad Brett works away and travels back to Kobi on weekends.

On the afternoon of Friday the 20th of June, completely unaware of the devastation that was in front of him, Kobi decided to take a ride on his motorbike which he did every day.

However, one wrong decision from another driver would ultimately change Kobi's life forever. Kobi collided with a school bus when it unexpectedly turned in front of him.

Everything stopped.

Kobi woke up dripping in petrol and completely consumed with pain that the only thing he could do was scream.

Kobi is suffering with significant injuries both physically and emotionally that will affect him for the rest of his life.

He is one surgery down which has resulted in a plate and screws holding his leg together and a chest drain placed for a collapsed lung. The other surgeries could not be completed due to becoming unstable and has required multiple blood transfusions.

Kobi is prepping for surgery number two which will result in plates, screws and pins to hold both of his broken arms together.

Kobi is also suffering from burns and significant facial injuries.

The road ahead is paved heavily with challenges.

Please help me bring some comfort and financial relief to this family during such a difficult time. Kobi needs his dad by his side through this trauma and his presence is essential.
