Hi, we are Janelle's sisters; a sisterhood formed by both blood and choice. Her circle of love and friendship spans across the globe.

On September 12th, Janelle was involved in a horrific accident that left her with a broken femur, fractured sacrum, and a vertebral injury in her back. She was rushed by ambulance to a trauma hospital and has since undergone two emergency surgeries and remains in the hospital, working hard each day toward recovery. Each day is agonizingly painful. She is just now able to endure sitting up in a chair for short periods and will be completing non-weight-bearing for at least 4 more weeks.

As soon as we learned the news, Janelle's mother, Jan flew to England to support Janelle, Matt, and their children, Sidney and Eliza. A month later, the challenges mount with travel to visit her at the hospital, managing meals, housework, school and activities runs. All the while Matt continues to work, but has missed out on picking up additional shifts to step into additional duties, maintaining Matt's parents' house and their renovation.

This unexpected separation from her family and work has been incredibly hard on Janelle. You all know that Janelle gives her all in whatever she is doing, but now she finds herself unable to do even the simplest things — tucking in her children at night, helping with homework, or taking part in everyday family decisions. The physical healing is demanding, but the feeling of powerlessness has been just as difficult.

If we lived nearby in the US, we would be organizing meal trains, picking the kids up from soccer and dance, doing laundry, visiting Janelle at the hospital and taking Matt to the pub. With an ocean between us, our usual acts of love and support aren't possible. We are grateful that her sister in England, Danielle and Janelle's English circle of friends have graciously stepped in to do all these things, and we would like to do more from here!
