The Rainbow Dung Beetle Film

Welcome to the GoFundMe page for The Rainbow Dung Beetle! This animated short is the thesis film of Chapman University seniors Ellen Mowat and Cole Dupzyk. We are so excited to share our work with you!

 

The story centers on Desmond, a rainbow dung beetle. Accustomed to camouflaging himself with mud to hide from predators, he learns from his new neighbors that his true colors can be used to his advantage.

 

We’ve broken down our budget below:

 

Voice Actors: $850

We’re thrilled to have a talented cast that includes professional voice actors.

 

Musical Score: $750

In addition to the voice acting, a musical score is crucial for communicating tone. Therefore, we have hired a composer to create folk-inspired music to support our film’s rustic ambiance. We have agreed to compensate the composer at $100 for each minute of film. Right now, our film is around six and a half minutes. To be on the safe side, we’re allocating $750, as the film tends to become longer during the animation process.

 

Festival Applications: $1,000

In addition to these production costs, this fund would be used in our post-production festival application process as we carry the film beyond Chapman. We plan to submit to at least a dozen festivals, several of which have high entry fees. Thus, we have allocated $1000 for festival applications.

 

Total Budget: $2,600
