My 10-year-old son has a very specific dream:
he wants to see every species of booby bird in the world.
There are six.
They live in very different places.
And yes — this fundraiser is really called The Quest to See (the bird) Boobies.
(Birds. Please relax.)
Why We’re Doing This
My son doesn’t just like birds — he learns their names, tracks sightings, asks big questions about habitats, and genuinely cares about conservation.
At some point, he learned about boobies.
Then he learned there were different kinds of boobies.
Then, being a 10-year-old boy, he decided he wanted to see all of them.
So… here we are.
This quest is about:
- curiosity
- conservation
- learning that wildlife exists beyond screens
- and showing a kid that big, weird dreams are worth chasing
How This Fundraiser Works (One Level at a Time)
We’re treating this like a game: levels unlock one at a time.
Right now, we’re only fundraising for Level 1.
When a level is funded, we:
- take the trip
- document everything
- share videos and updates
- then unlock and reveal the next level
No giant upfront goal. No spoilers. You get to watch the quest unfold in real time.
Current Goal: LEVEL 1 — $1,500
Texas Coast (Port Aransas area)
This is where the quest begins — close to home.
What we’re hoping to see:
- Brown boobies
- Red-footed boobies (yes, they’ve been showing up on the Texas coast!)
- Endangered whooping cranes in their wintering grounds
Why this matters:
- Conservation starts locally
- Endangered species protection is real and tangible
- You don’t have to go far to see incredible wildlife
