Ashlynn Henry, our 19-year-old granddaughter, has been battling a rare form of autoimmune kidney disease called IgA Nephropathy for the past three years. The disease has progressed to the point that she is now in need of a kidney transplant.
At this point, she has not had to go on dialysis, but it will be coming in the near future.

Should you qualify as a donor, all expenses will be paid through Ashlynn's insurance.
Once the transplant has been completed, Ashlynn will need to stay at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago for about two to three weeks.
While insurance will cover a portion of the medical costs, the medical bills are growing and will continue to do so. Ashlynn will need lifelong anti-rejection medications and continuous lab work.
We, Ashlynn's grandparents, are establishing this GoFundMe account for Ashlynn's family, with the hope of raising $15,000 to help cover some of the following expenses:
- Hotel and meal costs for her parents during the time Ashlynn is staying at the hospital
- Gas, tolls, and any parking fees after she is discharged, as all follow-up visits for the first few months will require a trip into Chicago
- The living room at home will need to be converted into a bedroom as Ashlynn will be unable to use the stairs for quite some time
- Possible after-school care for Ashlynn's two younger siblings during the initial post-op period
- Temporary help with lawn care
- Online grocery shopping orders
