Hi, my name is Liam and I’m creating a Go Fund Me on behalf of my dad Gilbert Wise.

My dad is 78 years young, and some family and friends might think he had his children later in life but this selfless man fostered 3/4 of his kids. My dad worked tirelessly to provide for us kids and treated all of us equally. My dad has COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and has required to be on oxygen permanently for 8 months now. Growing up my dad was never the richest in the room, often living pay check to pay check but there was never a moment that us kids went without. My dad is only entitled to the aged care pension which considering his condition he requires 24/7 support which is why he’s living at a nursing home, so 85% of his pension goes to the nursing home.

My family recently had a scare where my dad had a really bad infection and was in the resuscitation unit for 18hours, doctors implied that he either gets better or worst, if it’s the ladder than there wouldn’t be much they could do based on his condition. But fortunately my dad showed his strength pulling through, and after a lot of consideration he realised he wants to focus on the time he has left and to set himself up with a better quality of life. He loves his family, his daughter and grandson and his three boys, but he’s restricted from leaving the nursing home due to the oxygen bottle limit. He looked at an alternative which is an oxygen concentrator which will enable him to move around a bit more freely and spend more time with his loved ones. My dad is genuinely the kindest person I’ve met and he doesn’t have forever left. My dad’s one and only goal is to be around long to meet his future grand child, but doesn’t know if he has the ability to. So we need to focus on the short term and ensure he’s got everything he needs so we can make sure he’s here!
