The Pull Up Challenge For Sam

In May 2026, we will be taking part in a life-changing project in the Northern Region of Ghana, helping to build a Community Education Centre in the village of Sakpe.

Our names are Bright and Ben, and we had the privilege of playing football and basketball with AS1 (T) Sam Odotei. We both now work in Air Traffic, and this fundraiser is deeply personal to us. Sam was a valued member of 99 Squadron, Royal Air Force, and sadly passed away in January 2025 while playing the sport he loved—basketball. He was not only a teammate, but a close friend whose kindness, energy, and character left a lasting impact on everyone around him.

In his honour, we are joining current and former members of 99 Squadron, Royal Air Force, under the TrueNorth Trust, to help bring this meaningful project to life.

Sakpe is a rural community where many families rely on small-scale farming to support themselves. The Community Education Centre we are building will provide vital opportunities for local people—particularly farmers—to learn how to combine traditional farming methods with modern techniques. The goal is to improve crop yields, strengthen livelihoods, and create long-term, sustainable change, while still respecting local culture and traditions.

We are working in partnership with Best Way Farms, a local foundation that will support both the construction of the Centre and its long-term impact by delivering educational programmes and maintaining strong community engagement.

As part of this wider effort, we have set a joint fundraising target of £1,000, contributing towards the overall goal needed to make this project a reality. In May 2026, we will spend two weeks in Sakpe, working side by side with the local community to build the Centre ourselves.

This is about more than just constructing a building—it’s about creating opportunity, sharing knowledge, and making a lasting difference. Most importantly, it’s a way for us to honour Sam’s memory in a way that reflects who he was: someone who brought people together and always gave his best.

Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser, would mean a great deal to us. Together, we can continue Sam’s legacy and help build something that will positively impact lives for years to come.

Thank you for your support.
