Heya! I'm Skarrlett Krow, a convicted nazi-puncher!
Back on August 4th, 2018, fascists and their various collaborators descended on the city of Portland, Oregon to have one of their little rallies, while some of them were even perched up on a building with various artillery as if they were going to snipe antifascist counter demonstrators.
I provided a little strength in numbers for the counter protest, and then my eyes befell upon someone I personally knew: an abusive ex-partner of a dear friend, and an alleged animal abuser who apparently thinks it's okay to strike a cat whose common alias rhymes with "dragon slayer".
I called them out by said alias, and upon confirmation that it was them, I punched them in the face and damaged their nose, requiring reconstructive surgery.
Later on after the fact, I learned that this person is not only a proponent of the continuously debunked conspiracy theory salad that I like to call, "QuackAnon", but they're on record waxing antisemitic about how a certain monotheistic group that rhymes with "news" are apparently responsible for human suffering and also allegedly built and intentionally sunk the Titanic among other outlandish claims. Said person is also openly Islamophobic and racist. All you have to do is look at their social media, though I advise against engaging with this person as they are irredeemable and I've got a no-contact order that I'd rather abide by to avoid any further legal trouble.
"Legal trouble, you say?"
Why YES dear reader, legal trouble. Hence the whole "convicted" part of my introduction. While I have no shame or remorse for punching this person, where I truly flubbed up was when I let my pride overcome my optic security. I bragged on Facebook about it, and let myself get caught. It took just over two months before I was finally arrested for fourth degree assault. When the cops asked me about what I did, I confessed immediately with pride. I was booked, processed, and sent back home without issue. The next day at my arraignment, I wanted a lawyer, and like so many others, couldn't afford one myself and had one appointed to me in that court session. Without talking to me beforehand, my public defender immediately put in a plea of "not guilty" which bought me some time to talk with them about actually pleaing guilty, because I had no interest in wasting the court's time when I knowingly left evidence in plain sight, and confessed to the cops.
Finally, the day came where I formally changed my plea to "guilty" on March 5th, 2019. I was sentenced to 18 months of probation and had agreed to pay restitution, the amount to be determined in a hearing, which extended to 3 separate days of testimony.
Finally after months of waiting to learn the amount I owe and my public defender trying to lower it, there's a figure: $9,650. Though apparently, this person is also going to try to take a civil suit against me to get even more nonexistent money out of me (good luck with that lol).
And that's where y'all come in. I have no income and no assets to my name as I am a former street kid who aged out of foster care, and I live with my primary partner and her support. While I'm certified in both TV Production and Digital Audio Engineering, trying to get work in these fields is rather cumbersome and often the best bet is to go freelance... which you can't really do without the necessary equipment.
So while this person laughs at the idea of how long it's going to take me to pay off the restitution, how about we collectively laugh together by raising the funds to do so far sooner than any imaginable expectation. Every dollar donated to this fundraiser is another punch to a nazi's face. I chose to round out the fundraiser amount to an even 11k so GoFundMe takes their cut without dipping into the necessary funds. (UPDATE, Nov. 16th, 2019 I boosted the goal up from 10k to 11k after seeing how much of a cut was being taken by GoFundMe in an email about the first withdrawal.)
Any amount over the goal will go towards helping me put together my own home-based Audio/Video Production studio so I can make content at the level of professionalism that my education and skills have granted me.
Not only that, but I know plenty of other LGBTQ+ people in the Portland area that are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, and I'd like to help them directly by helping them pay for rent, deposits, and various other living expenses.
So it's a win-win! Not only do you get to help out myself as a trans person in a rough patch, but you get to spite nazis with an act of community support. If this campaign goes over the initial amount, I'll get closer to running my own business and creating content, as well as supporting vulnerable people in dire straits that frankly need it more than me.
