Can you be a Dream-Maker?? Neha Singh desperately needs your help and support to build The Pratapgarh Animals First Rehab Centre!!

Hello! Welcome to a huge challenge for a wonderful young lady whose life has become dedicated and devoted to rescue, help, treat, foster and when possible find forever homes for mistreated, wilfully abandoned & abused and injured animals in her adopted city of Allahabad, India.
Although Neha lives and runs a shelter for street dogs in the city, called "Love Shade For Animals", she has received repeated notices from the authorities there, including her private landlord, wanting the land she leases from them back. She has been advised she has a few months at best to vacate this shelter, which many dogs call their permanent home, due to disabilities such as blindness, missing limbs, neurological deficits, and young puppies wilfully orphaned, those dispossessed, the elderly and unable to survive on the streets, those recovering from surgery and so on.

In Neha's home town of Pratapgarh, some 38 miles away from Allahabad, there is no animal clinic of any description - not even a government run one, or shelter to help with street dogs, or for pet owners to turn to in times of crisis, let alone when pets or farm animals become sick or get injured. It is for this precise reason that Neha decided it would become her mission to acquire a parcel of land there and build the first animal shelter and treatment clinic & rehabilitation centre for both domestic and farm animals.
Neha's vision is to encourage vets, physiotherapists, farriers and technicians to come to this town and work closely with her and her team and the local community, working directly with the centre, and so benefit the entire community.
By continuing the work she began a decade ago along these holistic lines, her core beliefs and ethos remain unchanged; the needs and welfare of all rescued and sick animals come first; even when her Shelter is at full capacity Neha will not turn a desperate animal away, turning to family and friends or partner organisations for help if she is truly struggling for accommodation space at LSFA in Allahabad. She will take the sickest home to foster them there, and take them to the shelter during working hours so that she can monitor them 24 hours a day - if that's not dedication, I truly don't know what is!
Allahabad is a very busy student city and commercial hub , its roads are extremely busy all the time, even during the night, and many animals, including large farm animals are injured during this period, being hit by large commercial vehicles on the highway transporting goods between cities. In contrast, Pratapgarh is a rural area, far better suited to a Rescue and rehab centre, and any farmer having concerns for a sick/ injured animal would be able to come to get assistance the same day instead of facing a long and traumatic journey to Allahabad.

Neha has been caring for street dogs, cows & bulls for over a decade by running a street feeding programme for over 350 dogs who receive 2 healthy nutritious meals daily, no matter the weather. This is only possible with the help of paid staff (Bhaiya's) and volunteers. A street sterilization programme is also run throughout the year with partner groups and NGO's to help reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies and therefore puppies born on the streets.
This has proven to be highly successful and once the adult dogs have had surgery, are recovered, they are returned to their colonies and friends. They then fall under LSFA's feeding and care programme so a watchful eye can be maintained on their progress.
Neha and her team can only do all of this magnificent work by publicly appealing for sponsorship of a single dogs meal on social media. It only costs $7 to sponsor 1 dog's meals for an entire month - less than 2 decent cups of coffee. Not much to keep a dog from starving is it?

As Go Fund Me is not available directly in India, I am organizing this campaign on Neha's behalf, but all the words and images in the campaign that follow are Neha's.

My name is Jan & I live in North West England, in the port city of Liverpool, famous for producing The Beatles, 2 great football teams, hosting Eurovision, beautiful Unesco world heritage buildings, its Waterfront, the Mersey Ferries, a unique accent and of course her people!
All proceeds raised to build the Rehab centre will be paid into a UK bank account before being transferred into an Indian business account opened purely for the Rehab Centre.
The project is massive, it cannot be denied, Neha has already secured the land, and preliminary work has begun on it, all the rescued animals will absolutely adore it, as there is lots of green space for them to graze on and to run freely.
The work has already begun, levelling off the land as you can see, and a real element of excitement is growing as everyone concerned with Neha's existing animal shelter in Allahabad can see progress being made, and know they have to begin thinking about moving the dogs out from there and packing up everything from that shelter that they possibly can. None of that is possible without funds to progress and begin construction work!

The cost is eyewatering as the shelter has to be built from the ground up as you can see!
  • From installing electricity & fresh water sources
  • Installing secure perimeter & fencing, drainage & sewerage
  • Cattle Shed with a Charai for feeding and fresh water
  • Purpose built dog shelter with multiple raised dog beds and all necessary accessories (Neha will elaborate further on)
  • Kitchen to cook dog meals for shelter dogs plus Allahabad street dogs (350+)
  • Staff room
  • Secure storage area for ambient foodstuffs and lockable janitorial metal cupboard (in UK to comply with COSHH, comparable guidelines in India)
  • Utility room with Almirehs etc to store blankets, medical disposable products, feeding bowls, dog carriers/ cages etc
  • Refrigeration & fans
  • Treatment room/ surgical room
  • Rehab room
  • Individual areas for specific treatments
Total building cost for the Pratapgarh Animals First Rehab Centre is approximately INR 40 Lakhs /£50,000/$55,000

Any donation you can give, no matter how small, will be so gratefully and thankfully received by us.

The dogs already in our LSFA shelter at Allahabad will need to be moved by the end of May, (Summer time begins then too, so temperatures can reach 40 degrees+)so it really doesn't give much time to raise these funds, have competent builders, carpenters, joiners etc., brought onboard and finally have our most important occupiers brought in.
With the existing amazing supporters and family of "Love Shade For Animals" on social media, and by everyone reading, and sharing please, it is our hope and prayer the goal can be reached.

Miracles really can happen!
We will be able to bring some employment to the local area while constructing the shelter, benefiting the community too, hopefully enriching the lives of some families in the village, once the centre is open, it is hoped this will continue and we will be reaching out to them and working with them.
============================================

Hi, I'm Neha Singh, and for over a decade I have been caring for sick, injured and abandoned street dogs (and in the last 5 years for abandoned domestic cattle too) in Allahabad.
What began by finding a malnourished mid aged female golden coloured dog who I immediately named Goldi, soon escalated, and within months of arriving to continue my studies I was feeding and caring for over 50 dogs. Not only feeding from my scooter in a defined feeding area, but treating cuts and bite wounds, flea infestations, maggot wounds, treating the skin condition "mange", taking the worst affected dogs to vet clinics for treatment & paying for it myself and so on.

Neha & 2 of her four-legged doggies at Love Shade For Animals Shelter in Allahabad.

Fast forward ten years and I now run an independent dog shelter which is always totally full, plus our staff feed over 350 street dogs who otherwise would be forced to forage in dumpsters and wasteland for food scraps to survive.

My shelter has over 75 dogs and puppies in it. Some arrive as emergency rescues, others are found very sick during feeding rounds. Some puppies are found deliberately separated from their mother in the hope they will die of starvation.
I appeal for funds on my social media platforms as often as I am able to do for dog meal sponsorship at the start of every month, and for help with vet clinic fees to cover surgery costs on a need by need basis.
My following on social media now exceeds 62,500 people. Imagine if you can, if everyone one of those followers could donate £1/ $1/ 4 Rupees, the building target would be reached and our centre not an ambition or dream. but a reality, and a new way of life for so many dogs and cattle, and a new way forward with the community in my home village.
I would be so, so grateful if you could donate whatever you can, no matter how small the donation is, I would be truly humbled for whatever help you could give to me, and I would ask 1 more thing from you today too - could you please share my story with your family and friends to see if they could help or share my campaign amongst their social networks for me also?

Pratapgarh is over 38 miles away from Allahabad, but totally different in pace of life, and the biggest difference is that there is NO provision at all currently for sick or injured animals - therefore I made up my mind I needed to have a presence here to help the community, try to bring some simple animal husbandry education to the children, and help families with simple remedies to help treat their domestic farm animals when they get wounds or simple infections. It will bring the community closer together and these bonding actions will strengthen the bonds within the village as time goes on.

I'm hoping to give some local people employment in the building of the centre and create some local wealth within the community - it hasn't happened for such a long time.
All this planned interaction will create a strong bond between the village and the centre and bring us all closer together. For the first time too, it will give my home town access to first class animal care and welfare, and I am already in discussion with a vet to bring his services to the town.

The funds needed for the Centre will be distributed in the following ways, and regular updates will be posted as we reach each new milestone along the way. The following zones are required:-
  • General dog shelter for adult dogs with disabilities
  • Isolation room for dogs with contagious infections/ those emergency rescue cases who have not been health checked by the vet
  • Treatment room for on-site vet & technician treatment & follow up care
  • Quiet room for pregnant/lactating bitches & their young
  • Recovery room for post surgical animals, or for administering IV therapy care
  • Puppy Room
  • Cattle Shed/ Haul
  • Kitchen to cook 350+ street dog meals plus all shelter residents food
  • Store room for all dry goods, janitorial cleaning supplies (locked away), locked metal cabinet for vet medications
  • Staff room with refrigerator, fan, furniture, washing facilities, bed, etc
  • Staff Office to monitor CCTV/ installation of CCTV
  • Solar powered and mains electricity
  • Access to water source & installation of fresh water to entire centre, including sewerage & drainage
I hope you will come on this journey with me and my furry 4 legged family and see where this journey takes us in the next year, 3 years and 5 years.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you can support and share

Have a wonderful day
Neha Singh
