THE PHOENIX RISE: BEV FLOWERS BIRTHDAY FUNDRAISER

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

In a moment of transparency, I've decided to create a GoFundMe for my birthday month and give some insight on what my life been like lately. I have been facing months of stress, trauma due to an ongoing custody battle for my son which has deeply affected me, breaking my spirit. My career as a dance instructor has become a point of contention in the custody battle with my son's father, who questions my legal and physical rights, asserting that only he deserves full custody. This ongoing struggle places a substantial burden on my finances, time, and energy, coupled with the recent loss of my father, my mental health has taken a toll.

As the driving force behind Bev Flowers Dance Company, I've struggled to maintain my business amidst these challenges due to me feeling extremely depressed and mentally drained.

I've grappled with the challenge that it's not about my ability to earn but rather the mental hurdle preventing me from doing what I love most—teaching dance. I've transitioned from a schedule of 16+ classes monthly, traveling extensively to share the joy of Konpa, to barely managing one class a month, if any.

The Konpa Queen, whom you all love and admire, has been spending months secluded in her room, grappling with deep emotions. I often find solace in just crying it out and sleeping my life away, lacking the motivation to engage in much else. I have been only coming out of my house when I finally manage to have one event. The weight of feeling like a failure looms large, yet the grip of depression makes it challenging to address.

Despite contemplating quitting and pursuing a regular job, I resist the temptation, recognizing that succumbing would mean giving the devil control and dimming my light. I firmly believe my purpose is to spread my culture and dance to the world, a role I fulfill with passion and excellence. Giving up is not an option for me—I'm committed to continuing this meaningful journey.

I recently started therapy and am working towards teaching classes full time again, but the financial strain has impacted my ability to handle essential logistics like studio bookings, flights, venues, promotions, advertising, and lodging. Although it's not easy for me to ask for help, I've realized that support from my community can help revive my business.

For my birthday month , I'm asking for contributions to fund promotions, advertising, and logistical needs for the Bev Flowers Dance Company. Any amount you can donate will go a long way in helping me get back on track. Your support means the world to me, and I appreciate it in advance.

Thank you,
Bev Flowers
