The Pete Wilk Youth Baseball Program
Donation protected
To celebrate his contributions on a way I know will be very special to him: our beloved Coach Pete Wilk loves Major League Baseball International (MLBI), and traveled each summer for years to plant the beautiful seeds of baseball in countries and cultures that were new to the game.
Chief among these: Berlin.
Pete is a huge history buff, and his visits to Berlin included tons of history in the morning, and then coaching kids all afternoon and evening. We have organized a very special opportunity to celebrate this (and please don’t share with Pete, as it is a surprise):
The big club in Berlin (the Berlin Flamingos - Germans love crazy names!) remembers him so fondly (indeed, many of the kids he coached are now playing in the first Bundesliga - the major league there), they have offered something very special:
They want to celebrate Pete by naming their youth baseball program after him, in a way that will give back to thousands of kids in the years to come. The youth fields will have his jersey and name prominently displayed right in the center of the complex, every youth player will wear a “Coach Pete Wilk” patch, and donations will go to underprivileged kids in the neighboring area of the stadium to play for free, exposing countless kids to the game Pete loves.
The total donation for all of this *in perpetuity* is 25K - I am putting down 2,500, my family is matching, and my hope is that others can provide any support you can. This spring, Pete will be invited back out to one of his favorite places on the planet to dedicate the Berlin youth baseball program to him. It will give him an occasion to look forward to, to be sure, and will be emotional all around, but most importantly, it will reflect Pete’s beautiful gifts to the beautiful game.
