The Period Shop - Women Supporting Women

Hi, I’m Briege Lynch, and I’m on a mission to make the world a better place for women and people who menstruate — starting with how we treat periods.

For far too long, periods have been shrouded in stigma. We grow up being told to hide our products, whisper about our symptoms, and feel shame around something completely natural — something essential to human life. It’s time that periods received the care, visibility, and respect they deserve. 

Women are consistently let down in medical research and help. It can take between 7-14 years to get diagnosed with a womb related condition. Once diagnosed, there is very little support or accessible information.

I plan to change that one shop at a time and I would appreciate more than you know, if you donated and come along for the journey!

What is The Period Shop? 

Located in the heart of Belfast City Centre, The Period Shop is a unique retail space designed to empower and educate, offering a wide range of period and wellness products. 

️ What We Offer:

1. A Curated Retail Experience:

Our shop combines essential period products like period pants, reusable sanitary pads, moon cups, with holistic and organic health solutions. We offer bulk products and create specialised period hampers, designed to support women through every phase and condition, including:

• “My First Period”

• “Endometriosis Care”

• “PCOS”

• “Hypothyroidism”

• “Menopause kit”

These hampers include personalised items like vitamins, electrolyte drinks, soothing heat packs, fluffy socks, and mood-boosting chocolates, along with affirmations and condition-specific leaflets. Each hamper is made-to-order, ensuring every individual receives exactly what they need. Perfect as comfort gifts for friends and family recently diagnosed.

2. Wellness Room:

A dedicated wellness space available for self-employed women wellness practitioners. This free space encourages local professionals to grow their clientele, have a community to help each other grow their businesses to enable them to eventually get their own premises.

3. Monthly Expert Talks:

We will host monthly expert-led sessions on a wide range of topics related to menstrual and reproductive health, including menopause, PCOS, endometriosis, pregnancy, and more. These talks provide valuable information, resources, and support, ensuring everyone leaves more knowledgeable and empowered. These will consist of 30 mins talk by the expert and 30 mins Q & A with tea and coffee to mingle with other people going through the same thing. Building community.

4. School Engagement & Education:

To break the stigma early, we will organise school trips where students come to the shop to learn about menstrual health and the products available in a safe, educational environment. We invite young boys to understand and empathise with the experiences of their female peers, fostering a more inclusive and supportive atmosphere.

5. Subscription Services:

For those with disabilities or individuals seeking convenience, we offer monthly and quarterly subscription options, ensuring our products are easily accessible.
