Georgia State Games & GSF (The People's Games)

The Georgia Games, the Georgia Sports Foundation (GSF), and its Executive Director, Eric Pfeifer, do a lot more than these organizations name implies. Each year they bring the community of Georgia together through the Georgia Games Championships, an Olympic-style sporting event, educational clinics, and many other external economic development partnerships.  Along with giving over 2.5 million amateur athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills, Mr. Pfeifer assists local grassroots non-profits in operating their programs, generating donations either financially or through goods and services.


Due to the current pandemic and continued social distancing requirements, the GSF was forced to cancel the 2020 Georgia Games. This Olympic-style event, run entirely by volunteers and interns, host over 47 sports and 10,000 athletes, no matter their age, gender, or skill level. With this year's cancellation, the GSF lost approximately $2 million in funding and support. 

The Georgia Games has always been known as the Peoples Games and NOW the Peoples Games needs the People’s support.


Although times have been tough for everyone, the interns at the GSF have seen the positive benefits Mr. Pfeifer and the Games have on the local community. They truly bring everyone together and create unforgettable and lasting memories. 


Even though Mr. Pfeifer wasn't able to host the Georgia Games he took it upon himself to help as many college students as he could. In March he created the Virtual Internship Program, which has given real-world experiences to over 350 students when most businesses took away these opportunities to graduate college!
 
The interns at GSF are truly grateful for the opportunities Mr. Pfeifer has given us and want to spread his positivity and love for his community through the continued efforts of the GSF. No matter what changes life throws at him, Mr. Pfeifer always pushes himself for the betterment of his community.
