Jasper Fire Caring Community Fund
Hello, my name is Dee and I am a Local Community Advocate and a Vice-Local Chair for the Teamsters Local Division 796 in Edmonton, Alberta. This fire hits close to home as the Brothers and Sisters who are members of the Teamsters Division 898 in Jasper are friends and colleagues.
There is an active and out of control wildfire in Jasper National Park and as of yesterday the fire reached the Town of Jasper. The damage and losses incurred by the fire that the people of Jasper are facing is beyond comprehension. My deepest sympathies go out to the residents who have been impacted by this disaster. The money raised will be donated in its entirety to assist with the relief efforts and offer help to those impacted by this.
I understand that the times are hard for a lot of people these days, but your help will be appreciated. Please donate what you can and share it so that it may reach a wider audience.
Best Regards,
Dee
**Update July 31, 2024**
On July 30th, Teamsters Canada Rail Conference President Paul Boucher put out a letter that they will be sending their support to the Jasper Fire Caring Community Fund (www.jaspercommunityteamsociety.ca)
The Jasper Community Teams Society is a long standing not for profit organization in Jasper since 2004; they have stepped up to manage the needs of the community during this difficult time. It was discussed by the TCRC National Office and the TCRC Local 898 that they would be the best group to donate to as they are in the best position to identify the best ways to direct this resources.
In line with that, this fund will also be donated to the same organization. Going forward you can choose to donate here if it is the most convenient option for you or you can donate directly to the Jasper Fire Caring Community Fund. This is the most recommended option.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this Campaign so far and your help has been greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Dee
