Hi – My name is Murray. I have created this Gofundme page in support of the Peadson family. You may know Francoise and Brett (the parents) or you may not. So let me tell you...
Fran and Brett have Dominic (age 11) and James (age 15 months). Some months ago they received the joyous news that Fran was pregnant. As the months passed they found out there were twins (Joy!Joy!).
As more time passed they found out they were identical twin girls and they were “mo-mo” or “mono mono” twins. This is a term used to identify identical twins who share the same “sac”. Only one birth of one hundred identical twins are mo-mo. Inside there are the twins and two umbilical cords.
Mothers know the joy of feeling movement in the womb. With mo-mo twins, as they move and kick they start to wind and kink the umbilical cord. Mo-mo twins are incredibly difficult to bring to term. Josee and Eva were named. Josee was found to need heart surgery in Edmonton soon after birth
As time passed Fran needed to go often to HSC for fetal monitoring because it was certain, at some point the twins would simply run out of room. These past weeks, the monitoring was every day and she was told to lift Nothing Whatsoever. That is most difficult with a 15 month old. Brett and Dom needed to “step up” Brett needed to miss work.
The family, friends, neighbours, the church group all pitched in: Laundry, dishes, Dom to school, taking care of James, animals, groceries and an entire host of everyday things. All to bring the girls to 34 weeks where that magic number might suffice.
Fran was to be admitted to hospital on April 4 so that constant monitoring could be done until about April 15.
However, on April 1, (32 weeks) the daily fetal monitoring showed a heart rate upwards of 200 beats per minute. Josee and Eva had to come out NOW!
At about 11:45 Josee and Eva were welcomed to this world. Birthweights of 3lbs. 10 oz. and 3lbs. 13 oz.
Over the past week the condition of the babies and the mother changed often with the trip to Edmonton being considered. Not just in medical terms but the logistics. Eva could not go.
-The capacity of the ICU in Edmonton
-The medivac flight needed for Josee
-The availability of the surgical team
-The costs of what Manitoba Health covers and the long list of what they do not.
-Eva's condition
-Josee's condition
-Taking care of James
-Dom
If the very best outcome is sought then, however it is accomplished, whenever, it must be done.
In football there is one play, when time has run out, when a touchdown is needed. It is called a Hail Mary. Empty the backfield and send all down the field. The quarterback is alone for the mightiest throw he can find.
We are sending the team for the very best outcome!
Josee will need Fran
Fran will need Brett
James will need Fran
Brett's mother will go for James and (hopefully) Eva and everyone else.
On Saturday the twins were officially named (much longer). The flight was scheduled for Sunday but has been pushed back to Tuesday. We are hopeful the change will allow Eva to go. If not.....she must be left behind in the ICU in Winnipeg. Fran's milk will be flown from Edmonton. Cuddles and holding are in place.
I cannot say what will happen or when it will happen. I can update this page. The money will be spent as needed in Edmonton for as long as it is needed (which may be a month).
So this Gofundme is our Hail Mary. When the ball is snapped (Medivac on way). The best possible outcome is needed. We are going for the TOUCHDOWN. We need your help!
