We are using this page as a place to receive donations in memory of our beloved Dr. Pe Than Maung, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed ophthalmologist who dedicated his life to improving the lives of others through his medical expertise and humanitarian work. Dr. Maung’s love for his homeland never wavered. His patriotism led to a deep, lifelong frustration with the dictatorship that he believed had ruined his country. Dr. Maung was actively involved in the pro-democracy movement in Myanmar. As president of the Burmese Democratic Association of Florida, he spoke at committee hearings, attended rallies, and organized fundraisers in support of a free and fair Myanmar—a dream shared by many. Due to his activism, he was blacklisted and never permitted to return to his motherland. As we honor his legacy, we are supporting organizations that represent the values he held dear: giving back and providing care to those most in need.

The funds raised will go towards Doctors Without Borders, a global humanitarian organization that delivers medical care to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. This cause resonated deeply with my grandfather’s life-long passion for service and commitment to medical outreach in underprivileged regions.
