Help us grow pay equity in the theatre industry!

On Our Team has spent the past two years developing The Pay Equity Standards , a first of its kind tool to help theatre companies establish pay equity within their organization AND serve as a public recognition for equitably paid theatre. On Our Team needs funds to support the launch and certification process for the Standards!

Designed as a simple checklist, the Pay Equity Standards lays out the path to establishing pay equity using the three-legged-stool of pay equity: Transparency, Working Conditions, and Accountability. Companies that opt in and meet all certification requirements will be granted use of the Pay Equity Standards badge.

Inspired by the organic food movement, The Pay Equity Standards will engage audience members and funders in growing fair and safe working conditions in the industry for the benefit of workers, the art form, and industry wide diversity, equity, and access.

The Pay Equity Standards badge is a marker of equitable pay practices, and will allow audiences to make informed consumption choices, artists to make informed employment choices, and for funders to use as a marker of equity within an organization. The badge can be displayed on the company’s website, marketing materials, social media, and job posts, and used in grant proposals and in discussions with funders, among other uses.

Calls for a more fair and equitable industry have become more urgent than ever as the theatre industry navigates the COVID-19 pandemic, renewed focus on the need for diversity and access within the industry, and mass unemployment of theatre workers. The Pay Equity Standards was developed out of hundreds of hours of interviews with producers and theatre company executives and feedback from artists, staff, and leaders of theatre companies of all sizes across the country.

Funds will be used for hourly pay ($25/hr) for members of On Our Team as they work to review organization's certification materials, webhosting, graphic design, and communications. On Our Team is working to gain 501(c)3 status, but until it becomes eligible for grants, it has no other funds beyond public support. Thank you so much for making this work possible!
