The Paw Portal fundraiser

The Paw Portal is a non-profit rescue organisation that is volunteer run and based in Barcelona, Catalunya.

We started our journey together in 2019 and have since found loving homes for hundreds of animals and raised thousands of euros for veterinary bills, dog training, and sterilising street cats. Lives are saved thanks to the donations we receive from people like you.

Our average spending per year is 13K euros, and this is just covering the bare minimum, with more funds more animals could be helped.

Our main spendings are on veterinary bills, we have had the opportunity to take in both older and sick animals as well as rescuing kittens that otherwise would have met a certain death in the streets.

Second biggest cost is for Nela, she is a very special older dog lady that can´t adapt to living in a regular home and therefor is staying at a

paid residency costing us 150€ / month.

We also have incidentally ending up taking in more difficult cases when it comes to dogs, a lot of dog’s face challenges in being adopted due to behavioural issues, however in a dedicated foster home and working with a professional trainer they get a chance for a forever home. Using a positive training methodology several otherwise “impossible” dogs have found homes thanks to us since we have been able to invest in their training thanks to the donations we receive.

Another topic dear to our heart is the Trap Neuter return (TNR) methodology to reduce the street cat population. This is a proven and humane way ensure less kittens are born into the misery of a life in the streets. Certified volunteers capture and sterilize street cats and release them again once recovered. This is working in a preventive way rather than a reacting way, rescuing kittens already born. There are not enough homes to go around, so we need to break the cycle.
