A Note first before our story:
*Our main goal is higher than $22,000 but GoFundMe only allows to set the goal at that amount. We outlined the needs below, there are many challenges we face so, we ask you to invest in our lives to be our best & keep Pat's memory alive.
"Legacy is not something you leave for people, it's something you leave in people."
Patrick Mayhan was a builder of many things: homes, relationships, connections, and a family. Landon, his son was his greatest joy and building a foundation for his future was one of his top priorities.
Landon faces certain challenges with learning and is currently attending a new school this year with a smaller student to teacher ratio that is vital for his success. This type of environment allows for him to receive 1-on-1 instruction, as well as, receiving other types of support necessary to ensure his academic progress. Landon deals with significant ADHD and needs extra accommodations to help him with focus, organization and task paralysis. This school also helps with Sensory Processing Disorder by helping him eliminate what impacts his sensory system while using tools to help himself (Ex. noise cancellation headphones.) Landon has also been diagnosed with dysgraphia and dyscalculia. Dysgraphia is a neurological condition that affects students ability to write. Dyscalculia is another type of neurological condition and is usually generic in nature affecting a students ability to work with numbers. This school will teach him strategies on how to deal with these issues and also provides an extra hour and half of Math instruction (twice a week) to help.
Landon is still dealing with PTSD from losing my dad, his dad and another grandfather this year. It's been a hard five years and he's lost three key male figures in his life and it has been hard. He does really need trauma therapy to be help him process all of this, and we know that by things that we observe. Because Landon shares some medical issues with me. He needs some extensive dental work, including braces.
In addition to this, I deal with a chronic, rare disease called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome with Dysautonmia as an overlapping comorbidity. Both illnesses have left me bedridden at times, with daily severe wide spread pain, weakness, my blood pressure dropping erratically, severe asthma, Mast Cell activation(s), chronic migraines and so many other symptoms. I often fall and as a result, I have herniated discs in my back along with two tears in my right hip.
EDS is a connective tissue disease (mainly) and it has greatly affected my saliva glands and my teeth, so I've lost a lot of my teeth, so I am need of getting implants.
I have been in the process of applying for disability for almost 2 years because there system was a year behind. I did everything they asked, had extensive doctor summaries and was still denied. Unfortunately, seven out of 10 people in Texas that apply usually get denied. My next step is to go before a judge and present my case. But, that could take another 17 to 18 months. Furthermore, when my disability was denied, it then revoked my widows benefits (my only income) due to certain guidelines requiring that a that widow be of certain age or receiving disability benefits. That leaves me a year and a half without any income coming in. I've included that amount along with all the other things we need help with.
*We have many needs. GoFundMe will only allow a goal of $22,000 but, our needs go be on that. We are grateful for any and all help that will be given. We prioritize what is the most important and then we'll hopefully find a way to do the other things.
*The amounts included are only estimates of what we will/may need.
* Investments made into any area can be paid directly to the businesses. For example; for tuition, you can pay directly to the school, for dental work you could pay directly to the dentist and so on.
*We WILL provide ongoing updates on how Landon is doing in school in and how I am doing with my health. We will also do spotlights on Landon's tutor, his new school and any doctors I see, along with the course of treatment. We want you to know how grateful we are that you have chosen to be part of our journey. We want you to see how your contributions are making a difference in our lives.
On May 21, 2025, we acknowledged the third anniversary of Pat's passing and we know that your continued support would mean so much to him as we the continue to build lives for ourselves, We are so thankful for your prayerful consideration.
i know this is lengthy but I wanted you to understand all the things we are facing and why we are asking for such a high goal.
*Tuition -11th grade/ $20,000 ((We received an award & Ive paid 2 payments so we need: $15,800?
*Tuition-12th grade/$30,000 (hopefully $20,000 if financial award is given again
*Tutoring (PAID by a family member!)

*Dental Work/$35,000? (Michele)

We know this is a lot and the needs are many but we appreciate anything that anyone can do to help us right now.
*Our main priorities are tuition and our dental work but if we can get the other things covered that would just be amazing. Especially things to cover our emotional and physical health. We appreciate any & all help! Thank you for prayerfully considering!
Blessings Always,
Michele & Landon
