The Orbit of Minor Satellites Feature Animation!
Donation protected
In 2015 I began full time work on my second feature animation, The Orbit of Minor Satellites . I am getting close now 9 years later, But the film still has some work to be done on it. Over the past two years I have been trying to get everything done by myself with, with spotty freelance help, but finishing the animation, sound and the editing by myself is not realistic if I want the film to be born soon. I am extremely grateful to those who have donated to the film since Our initial Kickstarter in 2017 , New Deer, and Creative Capital, but there is still work to be done. films website with cast and artists details
So I am launching this Go Fund Me Finishing Funds champaign to get The Orbit of Minor Satellites into theaters. Raising money from now to June 1st . This money will cover bringing back three members of my team, Animators Sara Payne, Pablo Lorenzana, and new addition Zechen Li, to help me finish the last 8 to 10 minutes of animation. Part if this finishing drive is going to be adding on another editor as well, Polish animation editor extraordinaire Aleksandra Rossett, who is the editor of many Polish live action and animated shorts, and impressed me with her work on Julia Orlik’s animated masterpiece I’m Here.
My goal is to have the film ready for the Spring/Summer 2025 festival cycle, which means sending it out January 2025. Spring Festivals include Annecy, Cannes, Jeonju , Zagreb, Animator, Edinburgh and more.
This film has become an amazing journey in its’ development over the years with plot twists and character evolutions I could not have seen in 2015. The world has changed as well, and the Cold war content that had a danger of being nostalgic in 2015 is now very real and foreboding in 2024.
The Orbit of Minor Satellites has grown but has stayed true to it's beginnings, a film about overcoming unimaginable loss, the death of a child. A film about reconning with the giant things you have been in orbit around you all of your life, most prominently your potential self. mourning the person you thought you would be, and embracing the lesser wonder that stands before you in the mirror. From a Psychiatrist office and a troubled patient, to a marooned space station on the outer moons of Saturn, unlikely healers emerge in this film, as they do in life.
The film has become a harrowing and hopeful investigation on its’ characters search for belonging, And forgiveness in their lives. A message that I hope spreads to those who watch the film.
Thank you to all the friends, strangers, family, all the incredible artist who have worked on this film, and the amazing independent animation network of artists and enthusiasts have given The Orbit of Minor Satellites so much. I really want to reward everyone with a heartfelt work that make the world a but more complicated, and a bit of a gentler place.
The funds will go directly to the Animators, editor, and musicians who will be putting the final pieces into this film.
I will be sending out framed pencil drawings of the films frames to anyone who donates $25 or above. as well as having your name on the credits funding list.
Sincerely Chris Sullivan.
