COMMUNE: A cross artform project involving music production, film making and performance presentation.
After years of development, including a sold-out theatrical show and hype-inducing gigs, we of The Omega Point are finally ready to release our debut album, our contemporary opera: COMMUNE.
What is COMMUNE?
COMMUNE is a song cycle exploring the unprecedented crises facing humanity in the present day, and the infinite possibilities that lie in our future, both apocalyptic and utopian.
It blends:
- Traditional instruments with electronic soundscapes
- Pop sensibilities with sonic experimentation
- Influences from Gregorian chant to industrial noise
It’s ambitious, eclectic, and unashamedly forward-looking; a vitally contemporary work of prophetic vision.
Why We Need Your Help:
This isn’t a project that fits into a neat box- and it’s going to be expensive to make, and we are not Trust Fund Children, nor do we retain any Sugar Fathers.
But making an ambitious project like COMMUNE isn’t cheap.
We're raising funds for:
- The creation of an audio visual album- with narrative music films that subvert your expectations of the music film format, an immersive filming process featuring some of Melbourne/ Narrms' finest performing artists
- Vinyl production: just the pressing alone costs $3,500
- Merch: shirts, pins, patches, bags, Inscrutable Orbs, anything you want!
- Studio time: mixing, mastering, and post-production
- Marketing and publicity: so people know that the thing exists
We’re building a full audio-visual-world for you to immerse in- it's climax is set in a post-apocalyptic Commune.
All donors will be credited... you’ll literally be part of the album.
Why This Matters:
We believe the world needs works of art that challenge, that affirm the human spirit, that reflect our world, mourn the past and envision the future. God knows, being artists is a type of illness, where you are compelled to sacrifice time, work/life balance, sanity and finances simply out of the compulsion to create something that you feel will benefit the world. Whatever is donated here will be invested in the production of the album, and whether or not it brings us any profit is beside the point.
Each day, as we stare into the eyes of ecological and social collapse, we are compelled to tell the story of COMMUNE. We humbly call upon your patronage to help us birth it forth into this world, so all may hear the echoes of our vision.
