THE OLD BALLGAME
Logline: When a disgraced baseball player receives a midnight offer to relive his glory days from a mysterious Coach, he slides headfirst into a nightmare world of peanuts, cracker jacks, and death.
After a challenging year and a half of unemployment in the film industry due to strikes and negotiations, director Des Matelske is reuniting the team in Cleveland to take matters into their own hands by creating another film of their own. This time, the crew is diving headfirst into a short horror film, envisioned as a thrilling feature concept, written by the talented Jeremy Marshall. Matelske's creative partner, Thomas Matheis, will return to provide his master skills in cinematography. As we come together again to bring this vision to life, we need your support to raise funds for equipment rentals and catering.
Full Synopsis: Mac was once primed for the big leagues, but his career fell into ruin after one disastrous strikeout. Years later, he lives a disappointing life with his wife; forever pining for dead diamond dreams, knowing he can never change the past.
One night he receives a cryptic offer from a demonic Coach: take up his bat again and reclaim his glory or settle for the bench and a lifetime as a never was. Accepting, Mac is transported to a ghostly ballpark and relives that fateful at bat. With two strikes, he swings and SMASHES the ball, only to wake up and realize it wasn’t a ball at all. In reality, the ball was his wife’s head, now smashed and bloody beyond recognition.
Mac runs from his home, tormented by visions of the cackling Coach; his mind split between reality and running the bases of the hellish ball field. Seeking revenge, Mac tries to destroy Coach with the bloody bat. But instead, he runs headlong into a semi-truck, which barrels him into a sprawling tangle of broken bones and blood. Coach gets out of the truck and tells Mac that he’s out, before walking back into his haunted ballpark and disappearing once again, jauntily whistling ‘TAKE ME OUT TOTHE BALLGAME’ to himself.
Why do we need donations?
Let's face it, making movies is expensive. Even making a short film is expensive. But what do we need the money for? Donations will cover a wide range of expenses such as equipment rentals, catering and craft services, art expendables and to give our crew a little something - more than just "exposure" and "experience".
Even the smallest donation of $5 will provide assistance to our cast and crew.
Other Ways You Can Help
