I’m Amber Leonard, an LPN working TWO JOBS to care for hospice patients and nursing home residents in a rural area, while Jeff Hurd (CO-03) works for corporate donors. I took an oath to be the best advocate that I can be for my community, but my Congressman touted that he wouldn't mess with Medicaid, but voted for the cuts. Our district is composed of 27 counties that average out to 30% on Medicaid, and I take care of them every day, while Jeff Hurd is lining his pockets. But not for long.

MY STORY:

I know what hard work looks like.

- 7 days a week. Full-time caring for hospice patients. Part-time in a nursing home. Every day, I do what I can for those who cannot do for themselves.

- I see the cracks in the system every day. Patients are struggling already because of politicians like Jeff Hurd, who put profits over people. And these cuts haven't even been put in place yet.

-I was raised in the military and will fight for our vets.

-I have dreams of bettering our elder care system but cannot make it happen without Medicaid funding.

- Now, I’m running to fight for us—but the system is rigged to keep working people out.

Here’s the truth:

- Jeff Hurd vowed not to mess with Medicaid but voted YES on H.R. 1, which will cut 675 BILLION in 2029. Our district is 30% on Medicaid. Of that 30%, almost half of them are children.

- I don’t have lobbyists—I have my hospice patients, nursing home residents, and YOU.

- Filing fees and campaign costs are designed to shut out people like me. That’s why I need your help.

WHY THIS MATTERS:

- This isn’t about me. It’s about every:

- Family that can’t afford elder care, care for their disabled loved one, and access to healthcare in rural areas

- Nurses who are burning out from understaffing

- Workers are tired of politicians ignoring them

- We deserve a representative who KNOWS our struggles—not another corrupt politician.
