I'm a Nurse

Practitioner who had a hemorrhagic (brain bleed) at work! My life changed in a blink of an eye after clocking in on 1.4.2022. I went in on my off day and ended up being life flighted to another hospital within 2hours as the PATIENT!!

I arrived to chaos & HIGH STRESS as soon as the lobby doors opened. 2 CODE Blues were announced soon as I stepped into the elevator! Once on the 4th floor a Rapid Response was called overhead! I thought OMG!! this night is starting crazy already. Never did I think I would be one of the Codes called shortly..

So I walked in fine didn't feel anything unusal.

As we all were attending to the critical patients, saving their lives & getting them stable.. the House Supervisor proceeds to inform me, that due to another 2 call offs, MY agreed upon assignment to come in to "help out on the Telemetry unit" was changing.. I was supposes to be on 4 Telemetry BUT now will be going to ICU and assigned to any other codes or Rapid Responses the rest of my shift!! So yes, that news SHOCKED & STRESSED ME OUT!!!!

As her & I proceeded going back & forth about THIS assignment change, I tell her "no ma'ma that's NOT happening tonight" granted, I'll help of course!! But I'm not accepting that assignment on top of taking on IMU/ICU and an admission in route PLUS agree to be assigned to the Code and Response teams!

So, I tell her "I'm going back home" and started walking to the timeclock... as I'm about to enter my badge number ... my Left leg slowly slides from underneath me and 2 coworkers grab me and assist me by lowering me to the floor. As I'm lowered, I hear over head 'CODE STROKE ETA 2 MINUTES' CODE STROKE ETA 2 MINUTES'! NOT, realizing it's ME!! I see Monica, the oncoming House Supervisor is running towards me with a wheelchair.. I then say "OMG, someone call the operator as she did not give a location to where WE need to report?!"

As I'm assisted up off the floor into the wheelchair NOT REALIZING still its ME!!

Monica, states "let's just meet them down in ER!" Still NOT knowing it's me as I didn't feel anything wrong except me trying to figure out why my leg just gave out??

So, we get in the elevator head to ER and then I'm asked can I get on the CT table since we're still waiting on the "Code Stroke patient". I'm looking at everyone like what?! The ER doc then states "yeah, the CT scan is 'glitching' but the tech just fixed it but we want to be sure before the Code Stroke arrives". I proceed to stand up and get on the CT table... STILL not knowing it's me!! Hindsight... smart thinking as THEY were PROTECTING me from further stress & panic!! So, after the CT SCAN I hear odd numbers being called out.. here it was the hospitals coordinates as I'm about to be life flighted to another hospital in Corpus Christy, TX!!

Once there, the neurosurgeon Dr. G proceeds to ask me "what's going on and did anyone tell me what's happened?!"

I tell him "NO, WHATS GOING ON?!.. He then says "I hear you're a Nurse Practitioner?" I say, yes I am!

He says we'll, let me repeat the CT to be sure as I'm shocked you're alert, talking to me AND that you have such VIVID & ACCURATE recall of what happened at your job! I'm thinking of course I do!! lol..

He then says, "Well, my dear let's look at your imaging. So as WE are looking at the whiteboard with MY BRAIN on the screen he says, You see that tiny little blip right there as he points to a slash like this.. / .. he says "THAT right there is your bleed! It's a Right Basal Ganglia hemorrhagic Stroke I'm soooo sorry!"

So, NO brain surgery is/was needed and he wanted to keep me in NeuroICU 5 days to get my BP down as he says my stroke came on as a result of HIGH stress and a SPIKE in blood pressure!"

Now, here I was not ever had having BP issues prior BUT my high stress brought THIS ON!

So after getting my BP under control I was air lifted back to Houston to inpatient rehab for 6 months of intense rehab.

I was LEFT side affected, limp FLACCID arm, hand & leg, wheelchair bound UNABLE to walk without 3 people to assist me!! See video!!

I'm now dealing with extreme spascity requiring Botox expensive injections to 'now' loosen tight muscles to walk & use my Left arm & hand!

Thus, my need to setup this much needed go fund me.

My next injection is costing me out of pocket $20,795.50.

I'm hoping praying that you all will be so gracious & kind to assist me so I can continue to FIGHT and head further towards my TESTIMONY of full restoration on gaining ALL my abilities back.

I've come a LONG WAY FROM wheelchair bound UNABLE to walk to WALKING with new MUSCLE & BRAIN rewiring (neuroplascity) that's now tight BUT I'm WALKING 400 feet in house WITH A SINGLE POINT CANE solo in phyiscal therapy my Left arm & hand is getting there as well working on fine motor control with my hand and it's coming along just tight BUT I can lift both arms STRAIGHT UP in the air just extreme spascity were the new muscle wiring has formed BUT botox will get me there by God's grace!!

I wholeheartedly THANK each & EVERYONE OF YOU FOR YOUR help on my journey from TEST to TESTimony!
