Hi, my name is Haowei Wang, the cameraman of the YouTube channel Noumena and professor of Mechanical Engineering at Cal State Fullerton. The video above explains why I hope to create a Noumena scholarship for students.

This is my first time trying to create a scholarship and I don't know what I am doing really, except that all funds raised will go to students. I'm thinking a "My favorite story" award each year that goes to the students for their stories chosen by the viewers.

I hesitated a lot in trying to create this scholarship.

I don't know if anyone would care to donate because there are a lot more important things in this world.

I don't know if I will make a fool of myself because it just seems silly given its insignificance in the grand scheme of things.

I worry I will become a laughingstock for not tending to my intellectual endeavors as a professor.

I fear to be called a fraud and the burden to prove myself otherwise.

I recorded this video 20 times, meanwhile finding myself every possible excuse to sabotage it entirely, yet couldn't be at peace until it was done.

I am still unsure. But it feels great to be able to love and hope.
