The Noah Timothy Fund NTJ

Hello! We are the Johnson Family, caretakers of a special needs child who recently passed away. At three months of age, our son and brother, Noah Timothy Johnson (NTJ) was diagnosed with lethargy, low muscle tone, neurological, metabolic, and eye impairments; he suffered from a white/gray matter disorder in the brain. For 19 years he was wheel-chair dependent, did not walk, talk, sit up or feed himself and labelled legally blind. The Yale New Haven Hospital and NIH medical team of Bethesda, Maryland along with the phenomenal care of Noah's primary physician and our dear friend, Dr. Sydney Spiesel, determined that Noah had a rare disease which they labeled as a type of leukodystrophy. Of the plethora of examinations and procedures Noah endured, a nerve biopsy extraction from his right leg was transported to France for medical research. Noah suffered from seizures, severe scoliosis and a host of other side effects. Of the 7,086 days we had him in our care, he was sick every day of his life.

God in his infinite wisdom chose to supply our family with extended care through a community village of caretakers who surrounded him. We are CERTAIN we could not have done this alone. We are CERTAIN that our hardships would have been insurmountable. It is because we understand the overwhelming financial and emotional challenges that families of special needs individuals face, that we have created this fund as a means of assisting families who engage in loving relationships such as ours. To all who surround the special needs community, we stand with you.
