The Nichos Project Research Trip in Mexico

Hola mi gente!

We are Tanaquil, Ximena and Calo y somos el equipo artístico de Nichos.

We’re writing a new play exploring Mexican identity, which will have its world premiere in the fall of 2024. This play is being created WITH, FOR and ABOUT our migrant community in Philadelphia through workshops and oral histories.

We are doing all this work thanks to support from a Pew Project Grant, but that grant does not fund a vital piece of this process which is a research trip to Mexico to hear first-hand from local artists, historians, and activists to experience the complexity of this culture en vivo y a todo color!

Which is where you come in! Necesitamos su apoyo! Our goal is to raise $3,000 by November 1st.

This GoFundMe will help us go to important cultural celebrations across Mexico, and be a bridge between our Philly community and their families back in Mexico that they’ve been separated from due to violent migrant policies. The community we meet in Mexico will enrich our play, and ensure we accurately reflect what it means to be Mexican.

All donations will cover costs such as flights, and materials for workshops, and will allow us to properly pay the community we connect with. All donors will also be showcased in our program, and on social media!
