The Nguyen Family: David, Casey and little DJ.

Our son DJ was diagnosed in utero, with a form of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) called Pulmonary atresia with an intact ventricular septum, Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome. (HRHS)

After a scheduled induction, DJ’s first weeks of life were spent at the NICU and PICU at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA where he received his first of many procedures. He had a PDA stent placed at just 9 days old. This was supposed to help his heart function long enough until having the correctional surgeries known to help children with this diagnosis. He healed quickly from the procedure but unfortunately picked up an infection during his stay at the hospital and had to wait a few more weeks. After learning to administer intravenous antibiotics via his picc line and other daily medications, we were officially going to head home with our baby after 5 very long weeks.

While spending a short, yet beautiful week at home with our beautiful baby boy, unfortunately things took a turn for the worst and we found ourselves back at Sacred Hearts PICU. As you can imagine, we have gotten very used to calling the hospital home. So far little DJ has had multiple Cath Lab procedures, an open heart surgery, surviving multiple codes that required CPR and a total of 14 days on ECLS(ECMO). After those many roller coaster of events and uncertain of what would happen next, due to the unknown causes of his cardiac arrest, little DJ was fixed wing’d to Seattle Children's hospital CICU while being on ECLS (ECMO). DJ is now off ECLS (ECMO), stable, and is currently listed and waiting for a new heart.

To help us with our new circumstances, we have set up this GoFundMe account. As it has been especially hard being away from our home in Pullman and keeping up with the world outside of the hospital, we do not expect anything but are so grateful for any contribution made. We are also thankful for our family and friends that make up the village that surrounds our little family and any support they provide. All we can ask is that you keep little DJ in your thoughts and prayers.
