The next black, female, independent Games Designer! Help us support Za!
Zarii Arri or Za as she has been affectionately called has been living in Los Angeles, California since Summer of 2007. She was born in St. Thomas,United States Virgin Islands and is also from the Commonwealth of Dominica. Za has been homeschooled and at the same time took classes at the Local Community College.
She has proven to be an exceptional and straight A student and works hard at everything she does. Her talents have stemmed from dancing, acting, gymnastics, figure skating and obviously art.
She graduated with honours and her next Journey is to attend a Four Year College and this is where we need your help. She was accepted at Otis College of Art and Design, her number 1 and dream college. However, after Merit and Diversity Scholarships as well as FAFSA, her out of pocket cost for one semester is $16,000. The last few weeks have been a struggle trying to figure out how to get this paid. Therefore, the decision was to do a payment plan.
Za believes that all things are possible and truly believes that with help from everyone, she will be able to fully immerse herself into her studies. Za took her savings and paid her first month payment but needs our help to continue to do so. Every dollar contributed will be placed into her college fund. Any additional money raised will be used to cover future tuition as well as the many educational costs that will incur from textbooks, fees and housing expenses.
She wants to use the education she will gain from Otis College of Art and Design to start her own independent game design company. She has always dreamed of being a game designer, but she understands how harsh the video game industry can be. By having her own company and team of talented artists, she will ensure her and other’s dreams without the fear of losing their jobs to the growing industry.
It is very sad and unfortunate to assert that Za does not have any support from her father. The living situation at home has not been good as her father does not provide money for meals nor education. Hence, the College undertaking has been solely upon the shoulders of both she and her mother.
In order to raise funds for college, Za is readily available to accept art commissions. This she knows will greatly help her. The background photos are a slight glimpse into some of the art pieces that she has done.
Whether you send a donation or share this GoFundMe campaign, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your impact in helping Za is priceless and she will be able to excel because of your support. Thank You
Donating via Zelle ( [phone redacted]) is also an option and will lower the amount we need to pay GoFundMe for using their service. Please consider this other option if you are able. We will update the amount raised on GoFundMe with offline donations in your name as well.
