The Nelsen's Reunion

Hello,

My name is Alexandra Butryn. I am a former Navy nurse who has made some wonderful friendships throughout my career. One of my dearest friendships is with Christina and Ben Nelsen. Christina is an active-duty Navy nurse currently stationed in Guam. Herself an ICU RN, she has tirelessly served her patients with the utmost dedication and selflessness for several years. Now, however, she and her family are facing some pretty massive challenges that no parent should ever have to go through. Vivienne, the middle child of the Nelsen family, was diagnosed with RSV, pneumonia and Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome two weeks ago. She is only two years old. Her condition deteriorated very rapidly and she and Christina were emergently medically evacuated off of Guam to Honolulu to the civilian children's hospital PICU, where they have been since. Vivi is thankfully making some progress, but is not out of the woods and has a very long road of recovery ahead. As you can imagine, it is incredibly difficult for these two parents to be separated in different countries as they try to navigate how to be there for their critically ill child and also still parent their other two healthy children.

I am asking for help for this family to fund their reunion and any other expenses that they will face in the immediate future. I cannot imagine the worry that Ben must be feeling to be a world apart from his very sick daughter, and I know from experience that families need to be together....especially during the worst moments of life.

Please consider helping Vivi and her family be reunited as soon as possible.
