Neighborhood House Snow Day!
Donation protected
My name is Tommy Ondrey from Farmington, MN and I am a junior at Saint Thomas Academy. I am a volunteer at Neighborhood House located in Saint Paul's West Side and I want to do more for this community. The families I've met have made me feel that my time makes a difference and I am going to do something more with your help. I am putting together a special day for kids served by the Neighborhood House to get away and have fun skiing at Buck Hill.
I am organizing an amazing day of downhill skiing for kids that rely on the generous services of Neighborhood House in West Saint Paul, Minnesota, and we are counting on your support to make this happen on February 18, 2022. Kids from 4th to 12th grade will be provided bus transportation, lift tickets, ski equipment rental, lessons, lunch, and a day of great fun on the snow at Buck Hill in Burnsville, Minnesota. Most of these students have not had the opportunity to experience a day of skiing, and this is your chance to help make this happen. I am planning for at least 40 students and five or six chaperones attending, and we will increase the numbers if we have the opportunity.
How the funds will be used:
The funds raised for this event will all be directed to cover the costs of the day, including:
--Charter bus for transportation from the Neighborhood House to Buck Hill and back at the end of the day
--Lift tickets for all students and chaperones
--Equipment and helmet rental for all students and chaperones
--Ski lessons for all students and chaperones
--Lunch for all students and chaperones
--Snow pants and gloves or mittens
--Any remaining funds after covering the costs of the day will be donated directly to Neighborhood House to help their families in need
Do we have a deadline?
YES! The 2022 Neighborhood House Snow Day is scheduled for February 18, 2022 and we are hoping to have all funds raised before this date.
The Neighborhood House has provided support to so many families for basic needs and this is an opportunity to make a difference.
More information about Neighborhood House
Neighborhood House is one of the most important institutions in the history of St. Paul’s West Side. Neighborhood House has been a welcoming presence for thousands of refugees and immigrants since its founding in 1897 by the women of Mount Zion Temple, who worked to help Eastern European Jewish families settle in the St. Paul area.
For more than a century, Neighborhood House has supported families in times of transition or need from more than 50 cultural and ethnic populations, drawing people from diverse communities in St. Paul and beyond. The demographic makeup of Neighborhood House’s service population has changed with each successive wave of newcomers — Mexican immigrants after World War II, Hmong refugees in the 1970s and 80s, and Somali and Karen most recently. What has not changed is our unbending commitment to help families move from “survive” to “thrive.”
Today, Neighborhood House serves more than 15,000 people at our six locations throughout the City of St. Paul. You can find out more about Neighborhood House at https://neighb.org
