Have you ever thought about food? I mean, really thought about it? Not “What restaurant am I going to eat lunch at?” or “What’s for dinner tonight?” I’m talking about things like, “How long has it been since I’ve had anything to eat?” or even, “Where is my next meal coming from?”
Sounds unbelievable doesn’t it? I mean this is America, the land of plenty, and we waste approximately one third of the food available to us each year. Yet, as incredible as it sounds, 1 in 6 people in America face hunger.
You’ve probably seen some of these people that I’m talking about. Disabled veterans, the unemployed, domestic violence victims, people with drug and alcohol abuse problems, and the list goes on. These are people like you and me who were just living from paycheck to paycheck, one bad situation or one poor decision away from living on the streets. It could be something as simple as an illness that they or a loved one suffered from which kept them from their job. Or perhaps it is an impairment such as depression or an untreated mental illness which is responsible for their situation.
Whatever the reason, let’s face it, does anybody really want to be homeless and hungry?
Sometimes the situation we’re in is out of our hands. Regardless of the reason for a person’s situation, every human deserves the right to eat and nourish their body. This is why we need your help. Need 2 Feed is establishing a non-profit mobile food truck staffed by volunteers with one key vision: feeding the homeless and the less fortunate.
Every dime raised will go directly toward this vision. The funds may be used to purchase the truck itself, used for the ongoing maintenance and fuel costs for the truck, or the food and ingredients that we purchase and prepare to feed the needy.
This is going to be an ongoing effort and your help will determine the extent of how successful this mission will be. We hope to serve lunch or dinner at least twice a week to begin with, until we have enough volunteers to increase the number of shifts. We are going to partner with the NC Food Bank, The Building 323 Food Pantry and are actively pursuing Corporate Sponsors, but we need your help the most. Anything that you can give, regardless of the amount, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help in making the Need 2 Feed Food Truck dream become a reality.
Thank you for your support and God bless,
