The Neal Family - Housefire
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Bekky, and I am trying to fundraise for my best friend Jamie and her parents, Kim and Mark.
On October 30, Jamie went to her parents house after work (she is a high school teacher) like she usually does to pick up her adorable dog, Penny, before heading home for the evening. A perfectly normal day would soon turn into a nightmare for her and her family. The heater on the lower level exploded, quickly resulting in a house fire. Thankfully Jamie was able to gather up the two little dogs and get out of there before she was hurt. The fire department came out and put out the fire. Although there was a lot of damage, the house was still structurally ok. Jamie and her parents gathered up a few items that weren’t destroyed (although badly damaged with smoke) and planned on coming back in the morning to sort through the rest of the house and see what else was salvageable. However, Jamie got a call around 3 am that the house had caught fire again, and this time it burned to the ground. Everything was lost. Not only an entire home built by their family, but a lifetime of precious family heirlooms, clothing, furniture, literally everything was gone.
The Neal Family are so incredibly thankful that no one was hurt, but they are also brokenhearted for losing everything in such a tragic way. It will be a year or more before the house is able to be rebuilt, so Kim and Mark need to rent a place in the meantime. Right now their most immediate need is for finances to help get furniture, a small fenced in area for their Cockapoo Lucy (Penny’s sister), clothing, etc.
I have known and loved the Neal Family for about 16 years, and there could not be a family that is less deserving of such a horrible tragedy. They have always been loving, generous, and kind to everyone. They have worked hard their entire lives for everything they have, and to find themselves in a position where they quite literally have nothing is shocking and overwhelming. They would never ask for help, but I know that any help they are able to receive would mean the world to all of them.
When I was a kid, my family also experienced a tragic house fire, and we were so so well loved and supported by our family and friends. People helped us with food, clothing, furniture, etc. I want to pay that love forward and show the Neals that they are not alone during this terribly difficult time.
All donations will go directly to the Neal Family to help during this scary and uncertain time. My most heart felt thanks to all of you.
