The Nathan Haman Scholarship

In June 2019, I attended a study trip to Israel with the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. This experience was transformative, and I learned a great deal. The Bible came alive after this trip. I told my son, Nathan Haman, about it. Nathan worked in the IT field and wanted to use his skills and knowledge to help our pastor fly a drone. Drones are useful in recording teaching materials onsite to share with a broader audience and for those unable to travel. Going to Israel to help create teaching materials and to learn more about the actual sites for all the Bible stories was on Nathan’s bucket list. Nathan was never able to make it out to Israel to help with the creation of these teaching materials.

On December 13, 2022, Nathan was found dead. He passed away suddenly at the age of 29 by possible heart attack (pending on final coroner's report) sometime between December 9th and 10th. Nathan was brimming with life, devoted to his church and loved his family. He was excited to have his car fixed, valued his weekly Bible studies and enjoyed working out at the gym. Nathan was happy. He possessed a giving spirit and thrived in serving; constantly volunteering his skillset, time and energy to those in need.

Nathan has leftover money from his education. With the leftover money, I am creating a matching gift called Nathan Haman Scholarship in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Nathan’s kindergarten campus. The purpose of this scholarship is to help those in need to go to Israel and to fund drone recording of any teaching material. Although Nathan’s bucket list may be incomplete, this scholarship will afford others the opportunity to accomplish what he so passionately wanted to do.
