On August 10th, Kari went to the ER because she felt like there was something stuck in her throat. After an x-ray and a CT scan of the neck, a mass was partially seen. A second CT of the chest, abdomen and pelvis was performed and a large mediastinal mass was found in her front upper chest. She was transported in the middle of the night to another hospital and stayed for 6 days while they drew labs, performed tests and a biopsy. On 8/21/23, results revealed the diagnosis- Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Diffuse Large B cell type). Waiting on results of the PET scan for staging. At this time it looks like Kari will be admitted into the hospital on 8/28/23 for a bone marrow biopsy and port placement and first round of chemo will begin shortly after (8/30 or 8/31). Treatment will be 3-6 rounds of Chemo and hopefully no further treatment will be needed. Your prayers and well wishes are greatly appreciated!
