The Nance Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

In loving memory of James L. Nance (March 13, 1941 - July 25, 2019) who believed in loving others, helping others, and leading by example.  His death leaves a void. However, throughout his life, he demonstrated the importance of altruism; showing an unconditional regard for others.   He was a great leader of people as demonstrated in the General Motors plants of Defiance, Oh; Ayersville United Methodist Church; as well as his own immediate family.  Commissioned missionaries, Jim and his wife Suzann assisted thousands of families in desperate need for housing rehabilitation services throughout the coal mining areas of West Virginia. They taught kind hearted people from around the world how to love on communities and demonstrate unconditional positive regard.  Jim loved his family and his Trinity United Methodist Church of Jensen Beach.  Always true to himself, Jim influenced his family who chose helping professions focused on first responders, counseling, traumatic incidents, trauma informed care, veteran concerns, individuals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and others suffering from mental health concerns. The awarding of this scholarship is intended to foster the continuation of his legacy and his mission.

Jim is remembered by his family, friends and colleagues as possessing the kind of character, compassion, and strength necessary for assisting others in their times of need. It is only fitting that his family, friends, and colleagues set up a scholarship in The Nance name, with the hope of endowing it into perpetuity. Our goal is to raise $25,000+ to endow a scholarship in order that Jim’s legacy will live on in the lives of helping professionals.
