The Modern Career Woman's Leather Purse
Donation protected
[This description was written way back at the beginning of the project. There is currently a prototype of the original purse and the lunch clutch. I am keeping campaign open for anyone who would like to make preliminary donations for production before the kickstarter campaign is launched.

Hello, family and friends
For the last 7 months, I've been working on a project for busy, professional, health conscious women. It is a purse that eliminates the need for women to carry multiple purses throughout the course of their work day. In short, the purse has a discrete compartment to carry a pair of shoes, a removable lunch bag insert that is designed specifically to hold a large sized bento box, and is no bigger than the size of a medium-sized average purse on the market today. Best of all, it looks like a high-end, leather purse (think Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Chanel, or Kate Spade).
I have been trying to do this all on my own up until now. So far, I have hired a patent lawyer who is currently working on a design patent for this. I have also hired a graphic designer who created what is called a tech package; it is a technical and detailed drawing of product in a format that is required by the manufacturing company. As of March 7, 2019, I have been communicating with the manufacturer to get a firm price quote on the final prototype. This manufacturer, located in New York City, is the leading leather handbag manufacturer in the US and has experienced sample makers, one of whom used to make samples and patterns for Coach handbags.
I assure you, I have done careful research into the market potential for this product and each person hired for this project has been extensively researched as well.
After production, I will then launch a Kickstarter campaign to raise the capital necessary for this venture. But before I can launch my Kickstarter, I'll need a few things to position myself in a way that makes me a strong candidate for success as it is an all or nothing campaign, meaning if I am not fully funded, I receive none of the money donated.
I have calculated the estimated costs to complete the "pre-Kickstarter" tasks and I am estimating $8,400. Below is a breakdown:
-Website developer ($2,000)
-Videographer ($500)
-Photographer ($500)
-Branding specialist ($600)
-Prototype created by second level pattern maker ($4,800)
*Prototype created by top level pattern maker (+$2,100)
Why this is necessary before launching the Kickstarter
-A website developer will help to create a professional website with e-commerce capabilities. Having a strong and well-designed website will help create a strong first impression and gain the trust of potential investors and customers.
- A videographer is necessary to shoot a professional video that will be featured on the Kickstarter page. Ideally, this video will give me a chance to present my elevator pitch (think everything you just read but in a two minute video). It will give me the chance to quickly explain to viewers who I am, why this product is so unique, and how it will benefit them.
- A photographer will take professional photos of the finished product so people can know this is an actual item and not just something someone on the internet made up.
- A branding specialist will ensure consistent and effective branding and marketing so the company can be easily identified
-The manufacturer has given two quotes for the prototype. This is the quote for the second level pattern maker.
*The top level pattern maker will be an extra $2100. However, the manufacturer has ensured me that the second level pattern maker is well trained, well qualified and does great work. If extra money is donated, it will go towards hiring the top level pattern maker.
If you feel so compelled to donate to this project, you can do so right here. Any amount helps, even $50. I fully believe in this project and am determined to tenaciously see it through until the end. I have big plans for this product (turning it into a full wellness brand) and vow to use the donated money carefully to achieve the goal.
If you have any questions or would like to see the technical drawings, please do not hesitate to reach out! I would be happy to discuss this in further detail and answer any questions.
Thank you so much for you interest and support.
