Hello! My name is Daniel Tabuena-Frolli, and I'm a writer / director based in Los Angeles. My latest short film is a queer-themed comedy / drama called THE MODEL.
LOGLINE
Liam works at the front desk of a luxury apartment complex during the day, but at night he claims to be a model, using his keys to the building to hook up with guys in the showroom or "model" apartment.
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Indiana, then moved to Los Angeles to attend film school at USC where I earned a degree in screenwriting. Shortly after graduating, I placed in the WGA’s annual pitch competition and optioned my first feature script DRIVEN to an Oscar-nominated director. I've had several other script options and hires, including an indie horror feature currently in post-production.
WHY SUPPORT ME?
As a queer filmmaker, telling stories that reflect our lives with nuance and humor is at the heart of my work. When you donate, whether it’s $5 or $500, you’re not just helping make a short film. You’re actively supporting the queer community in an industry that still doesn’t always make space for us.
WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES
We’re a small, dedicated crew working on a modest budget. Every dollar you contribute will go directly toward:
- Paying our cast and crew fair wages
- Renting film equipment
- Securing locations and permits
- Wardrobe, props, and production design
We believe that everyone deserves to be paid for their labor, especially in the arts, and with your help, we can make that happen.
WATCH MY LAST FILM
You can check out my most recent short film here:
It’s very different from THE MODEL, but will hopefully give you a sense of my storytelling style and the production value you can expect from my new film.
HELP US GET THERE
If this story sounds like something you'd like to exist in the world, I hope you’ll consider supporting THE MODEL today! Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us get closer to set. Even if you're not able to donate right now, sharing this campaign with your network is also very helpful and much appreciated!
Thanks so much for your support -- I can’t wait to share THE MODEL with you!
-Daniel
