Our hearts ache for the Missasi family with the tragic passing of Anthony Missasi Sr. on Friday, January 6. Anthony was a kind, loving husband to Diane for over 40 years and father to daughter Rebecca and sons Phillip and the late Anthony Missasi Jr., and will always be known as Poppy to Claire, Samuel, Hadley, & Nora.
The family has been coping with the tragic loss of Anthony Jr. to suicide for the past 12 years.
Diane has since dedicated her life to being an active member of the suicide awareness community. As a board member for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, she has fought to create a healthy dialog around depression and suicide, even traveling to our nation’s capitol to bolster support for legislation that furthers suicide prevention and education. She is also one of the founders of the Hope Rocks Festival which creates programs and events designed to enlighten, educate, empower and engage individuals and communities ravaged by hopelessness and despair. Diane and Anthony Sr hosted the annual Anthony Missasi Memorial Golf Tournament, as well as countless benefit shows to raise money for AFSP and a music scholarship in his name.
Diane and Anthony recently tore down their West Saugerties house in preparation for the arrival of their new home; a place for peace, happiness, and new memories for their family. Anthony was to take on much of the work involved to complete that vision. This fund was created to help Diane and her family through this immensely hard time, as well as to finish her new home.
On behalf of the Missasi family, thank you all for your kind words, donations, and love.
