The Miraculous Miss Madison

Madison Rose Lane has been through quite an ordeal since turning one in October 30. What seemed like routine basic issues of a toddler as they grow, develop and explore turned some very sharp corners. Numerous trips to the pediatrician did not yield an answer nor a whole, healthy baby. After a few weeks of all-too-regular doctor visits without a lasting stop to the fevers, Maddie was sent by ambulance to Nemours Children's Hospital.
The initial belief after being admitted was that she had a very rare early case of a ruptured appendix. After a delay in surgery to remove it because the doctors saw an abscess, it was ultimately removed only to discover that was not the problem. Further testing and scans finally revealed a cyst at the base of Maddie's spine. Emergency surgery drained the cyst and a bacterial infection is being fought off by this tough little girl. If it hadn't been discovered when it was, the outcome could have turned much worse. The material that filled an area the length of her spine could have caused paralysis if not immediately handled. An apparent day of calm and healing then turned to a scare over a possible tear in Madison's intestine. Another MRI and nownthe cyst has been drained again. Eventually it will be able to be removed so that sweet Madison can make a full recovery. Until then at least one more surgery is planned then at least six more weeks of intense antibiotics, at least half of which will be administered in the hospital. 
The Lanes have been living this saga in the hospital for more than a week already. Their current room is in the Intensive Care Unit. We all wish we could do something to help, alleviate some stress and make this darling child healthy again. Any contributions you make will be received with loving and grateful hearts.
