The Miracle Kidney
Donation protected
At age 16 our beautiful daughter Tiffany was diagnosed with FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis), a leading cause of kidney failure. When she turned 18 we were then told she had Lupus Nephritis, an autoimmune disease that affects the body’s kidneys, another difficult blow. Throughout the many treatments, procedures, hospital stays and ICU visits Tiffany kept her spirits high and maintained her warm smile and witty charm, she is a FIGHTER !!!
The health battles changed Tiffany’s life dramatically, she completed college but it was a struggle, today she is a full time Nurse taking care of others. She is the bravest and the strongest girl I know, she is my HERO and BEST FRIEND ❤ By June 2018 medication was no longer helping Tiffany, she was on dialysis because of end stage kidney disease. Dialysis failed and we were informed that she would need a kidney transplant, at age 31 it seemed like life had other plans for our daughter.
Fast forward to March 2019, the situation was grim. We sent out an update on Tiffany through Facebook, asking family and friends to get tested for donor compatibility. Ten minutes after our post for help went out, I got a txt message from an ANGEL, Kim Omphalius. Kim was a high school friend that I have not seen or heard from in over 34 years !!! We had just seen each other at a class reunion and exchanged FB info. Kim had just read my post and she had the same rare blood type, she knew that she wanted to SAVE Tiffany !!!
After MANY trips from NY to Worcester for tests it’s been determined that Kim is indeed a match and Tiffany is going to get a kidney from her!!!! It will be a tough surgery for Kim yet even knowing this she still wants to give Tiffany a kidney, it is a GIFT of LIFE and is TRULY a BLESSING.
Health insurance will not cover donor and recipient large deductibles. There will also be post-op costs of the surgeries as well as the transplant medication that Tiff will be required to take for the rest of her life. Tiffany will require a rigorous diet, and will have many medications and co-pays after the surgery. The struggles that donor and recipient will endure will be immense and life changing to say the least. Please consider contributing what you can to this fund to help towards the mounting costs.
