The Miracle Genao Twin Boys
Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,
On September 7, 2017 we got the best news ever! Not only were we expecting, we were told, we were having twins! My husband and I were excited about having twins. That meant we were given a double blessing and double love. After a few weeks went by, we found out, we were having identical twin boys (Monochorionic Diamniotic Twins). Although identical twins don’t run in the family, it can happen to any couple with any pregnancy. This can only be contributed to luck. As the next couple months go by, the boys grow bigger and healthier with each day. Three days before I delivered the boys, my instincts told me that one of the boys needed help. It turns out, one of the boys was stuck in my rib cage.
On January 22, 2018, that day forever changed our lives. That morning, I called my boss and told them I would not be working today, because I did not feel well. Then at around 6:00 AM, my husband and I received a call that his mom had been in a car accident on I-84 in Waterbury and was hit by a tractor trailer. Through god’s protection, she survived. Even though I was not feeling well, we went to visit Stanlin’s mom at the hospital. Later that day, I went to the doctor to check on the baby that was pressing on my rib cage. Then, the doctor referred me to the emergency room to make sure the baby and I were alright. When we got there, they did an ultrasound and found out the boys had a twin-to-twin transfusion. In other words, Baby A took all of the amniotic fluid from Baby B. This causes Baby B to be in distress, ultimately fighting for his life.
The doctor said, Good news, you don’t have to deliver the baby, but bad news the doctor told us I would have to stay in the hospital on bedrest until the due date. After the news, I went up to my room and began to settle down, about 1 hour later, the baby’s heart rate dropped. All of the sudden, I had to have an Emergency C-Section. The doctors and medical team had less than 5 minutes to deliver the babies, saving our lives was critical.
Noah was born at 6:00 pm and weighed only 2.4 oz, and Joah was born at 6:01 pm weighing only 1.12 oz. The boys were only 28 weeks, which meant they were 12 weeks premature. The due date was supposed to be April 13, 2018, but God had a different plan for our family.
As our new journey began, the boys were now in the NICU. As the months passed, the boys and our family had their ups and downs. When Joah was only 5 days old, the doctors told us Joah had to be transferred to Hartford hospital to have surgery to repair the hole in his intestinal tract. After Joah stayed in Hartford for almost one month, he finally returned back to the NICU in Danbury Hospital.
Thank you to the nurses, doctors, and the tiny miracle foundation for supporting my family and I, both emotionally, and physically.
As February, March, and April went by, we finally received the news that Joah would finally be going home. There was only one problem, it would be without his twin brother, Noah. Noah has been fighting to overcome his condition known as Hyperinsulin Emia. This is where his sugar, can suddenly drop leading to serious and life-threatening situations. The nurses and doctors did everything they could here in Danbury to research and give us answers about his condition. As Noah’s sugar levels begin to go up and down, he now has to be transferred to a hospital in Philadelphia.
Our new journey begins as we travel back and forth to Philadelphia. The hospital in Philly is more equipped to handle Noah’s condition, and will do all they can to provide us with some answers. Our family wanted to thank everyone for their help and support through this tough times. Currently, our family only has one income. As the medical bills start piling up, this money would help us to provide and support our boys as they continue to heal and overcome these hard times.
As our journey continues, we are taking one day at time, and keeping the faith in God that we will soon be together as a family. We are asking for our prayers to be answered.
Thank you in advance for your help and God Bless!
Love,
Genao's Family
