The Mike, Jen and Mackenzie fire recovery fund
Hello friends and family,
On June 5th, a five alarm fire tore through the apartment building in Montreal where my sister and her family had been living for the past 10 years. Thankfully, my sister Jen, brother-in-law Mike and niece Mackenzie all managed to get out in time, along with their dog and two cats. Jen even ran back into the burning building to save an old man from the 2nd floor. He needs assistance to walk and almost certainly wouldn't have survived without her selfless act of bravery. In every sense, she's a true hero ❤️
Sadly, their entire apartment was gutted in the blaze. They're living with family members for the time being, and their pets have been temporarily re-homed with other family and friends. But with a young daughter, they need to make a new home of their own as soon as they can. You can help to make that happen.
What's needed immediately is enough cash to pay first and last month's rent for a new apartment, budgeted at approximately $1600.00 total. Everything after that will go towards furnishings, kitchenware, and all the normal things you'd find in the home of a young family. Unfortunately, there isn't any renter's insurance to draw on, so they'll be starting pretty much from scratch. So the faster we can raise funds, the faster we can get their lives back on track
Anyone who has been through a fire can tell you how devastating it feels to lose everything. If you can contribute *any* amount, it will be appreciated beyond words. Please help us give them a fresh start.
