My Husband Mike passed away on December 4th 2019.
He was a extraordinary man.
He had a passion for education, learning and music. He was like a bright light in a room. He loved the people around him and would do anything for anyone who asked.
Mike was fighting depression. Alone.
He never opened up to anyone about what was really going on inside.
By the time I found out it was to late.
I want to raise money for a couple different reasons. He loved his education. He was the smartest man I had ever met. I want to help anyone who wants to grow their education and not have to worry about money. He studied at George Brown College, Ryerson, Humber and York U.
Covenant House was also close to Mikes heart. He grew up in a broken home. There was an insufficient amount of love for him growing up. He moved there and that’s where he really started his life.
Last to CAMH. There is still a stigma about mental illness. It really needs to stop.
We need people to be aware what to look for when someone is reaching out but not telling you with flat out words.
I wish I could have done more for Mike but I didn’t know what was going on in his head. Mental illness is a cancer that no one can see.
Life as I know it is over and I want to do something positive about something so negative. I want the city.. the world to know his name and make him a hero to everyone just like he was to me.
Please help me so we can help others together.
May you Rest In Peace.
You will always be my sunshine.
Love you now and forever.
Heather
